Description

The history of Opinel knives began over 200 years ago. The grandson of the family's elder, Victor-Amédée Opinel, Joseph, patented a method of producing a folding knife with a wooden handle, which was intended to act as a small, handy tool. Initially, the knives did not have a Viroblock lock - it first appeared in 1955. Ultimately, the production of numbers 1 and 11 was also abandoned, as these sizes were considered impractical. To this day, knives from 2 to 12 are produced, excluding the 11th. Today's Opinels have handles made only of oiled beech wood, in the past it could have been pear, olive, oak, hornbeam, walnut or rose. Some of these materials appear in the so-called collector's series. The blades, gently taking the shape of a hunting knife, are perfect for work requiring cutting or slicing - thanks to the fully polished surface, which in cross-section takes the shape of a triangular wedge. The knife is recommended as part of a set in a brad pouch.

The blade material is modified Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel, which does not require maintenance (a similar one is used in Mora knives)

The knife is equipped with a simple and failure-free Viroblock blade locking system to prevent accidental opening.
